OK, who are Dan and Monika and why should I care that they’re losing weight? Well, it’s simple really. We have met people from California to New York that struggle with their weight. Dan and I also have been struggling to lose weight for the past 5 years. We both got stuck in a rut and over ate, really, and the pounds just kept piling on. We started working out and did the same things we did when we were in our 20s. We quickly found out that what we did in our 20s just will not cut it in our 30s. So we added fad diets in between the sporadic workouts. Lost some weight, gained it back and yo-yoed for a couple of years. Never really reaching our goals.
Enter 2009 and Dan and I are really REALLY fed up, depressed about our weight and even more depressed about not finding a way to lose it. It’s not easy when you have cereal boxes in your face that claim to help you drop X amount in 2 weeks or hearing commercials about losing weight by working out 5 minutes a day. It begins to feel like something is wrong with you. Well, something was; we believed that that’s how you can lose weight and if you don’t, you suck! That was the first false fact to eliminate from our thinking.
Then, one day in October, we received a postcard in the mail from TrainWithRon Personal Trainers.
Dan and I made an appointment to have our fitness consultation and see if this will be the thing to help us. We both had a lot of weight to lose. I wanted to lose about 70 pounds and Dan, right around the same. We talked about our goals with Ron and he let us know realistically what we could expect. He didn’t sugar coat it or try to sell it as a fad. He was up front about the hard work and changes we would have to commit ourselves to. This kind of felt like our last shot at this. Since we’ve tried so many other things and had no success we were going all into this. Ron talked not only about the work we would be putting in at the gym but also the changes that we would have to make in our diets and how to work out outside of the gym.
We went home and we were impressed and felt empowered again. We believed that if we had the courage to make the changes we needed to make, we would see the results that we were told we could achieve. It took Dan and I about 4 days to pull the trigger and set up our first workout. That was October 2009 and to date Dan has lost about 45 pounds and 13% body fat and i have lost 36 pounds and 12% body fat. It has been by far the best decision we have made and I cannot believe that i am getting back in shape. I never thought I could again. We’ve made a lot of changes and it’s has been a lot of hard work but we are doing it and feeling better for it.
We just returned from a trip to Hawaii, where we probably wouldn’t have gone the way we were feeling before. We are more active in our every day lifestyle and going out more. We hope to reach our goals by the end of the summer and we can’t wait to share it with everyone.
