Didn’t Know I Could Move Like That!

I must pre-empt this post by saying that there were quite a few people who frequent TWR who did not go through Ron’s “Wall Gauntlet” last week, and among that group, there are very likely several who would put up single digits on the two-wall run.  That said:

I did it in 11.48 seconds, which was apparently the fastest time recorded.

I have to admit, seeing my name on The Board at TWR really got me pumped. I’ve never been fast in short distances, but a lot of the training we have done over these last 9 months has definitely been geared towards explosive speed and I do feel faster than I have in a long time even though I’m quite a bit heavier than I have been at my “playing weight” in the past. I should add that I ran that two wall time very close to, if not AT, the end of the session that day – meaning I was pretty tired by the time Ron clocked me for the run.

As a quick aside… someone noticed something today I thought was extraordinary… a group of co-workers who gather infrequently came together for a meeting.  After we got settled in, I broke out my carrots, nuts, and raisins that Monika packed in my lunch.  As I chomped away, my boss looked at me and said, “Dan, no one has complimented you on your weight loss.  I guess that means we’re all used to seeing you as a pretty fit guy… congratulations on NOT being noticed!”  Everyone laughed and I felt spectacular. It’s really nice when people notice how much more lean I am, but it’s even better when they DON’T notice because I’ve created a “new normal” for myself.

Ron, Matt, and DB… you guys really rock.  THANKS!!!
