We just got started and I’m already out! :(

The DJ Contest at TWR kicked off last week and there has been a lot of creativity flowing through the gym. Everyone competing handed in their 30minute mix and the CDs get played head to head each hour during our workouts. At the end of the hour, we vote and the loser is eliminated. No second chance, no recount … just cold elimination. Brrrr ~

This week my CD was set to play and I thought I had a good chance. I received good feedback when it was played before the contest began so I was hopeful. It was played at a different hour though and I think the audience wanted something different. I was voted off the island before my feet even hit the sand. Sure I cried a little but I GUESS I’ll get over it :) Dan’s still in it, his hasn’t played yet though :) I hope he does better than I did. Check out all of the results on the TWR facebook page here.

Working out has been going well and aside from a couple of glitches I’m feeling positive and I’m seeing results. That always helps. I’ve kept up with running a couple of times a week and it’s really rewarding and offers a new set of challenges. For example, I hit a bit of a roadblock on the first hot day. It was about 80 or 85 degrees and my speed decreased and I felt really heated and exhausted, fast. The 30 minutes I ran were tough and I even took two 1 minute walk breaks. My pace had to have been above 11min/mile which I’ve gotten down to 10 on previous runs.  Last Thursday however I ran the farthest I have, in … let’s see in about forever! 4.34 mile in 45 mins. 10:22 average pace. I was proud of that. I hope to add distance and reduce pace a little bit each time. It will be a challenge to overcome the heat factor as well but I’m ready for it. It will force me to keep hydrated and drink plenty of water. Oh and maybe get some Heat Gear too and see if that will help any.

Good luck to all who are still in the DJ Contest! (I gueeeeessssss :) )
