About ron.
Ron didn't just stumble into Athletics and fitness. Both of Ron's parents were phenomenal athletes. Ron's mom was head majorette all through high school and in college, an honor that only a few can say they've accomplished for 8 years in a row. Ron's dad played college football and was an All State Pole Vaulter in high school and college. Ron's dad was also the General Manager of the Chicago Blitz Franchise of the USFL in the 1980s. Some of the people he hired were Bill Polian, Marv Levy and Jim Foster founder of the Arena Football League.
Ron's athletic and fitness journey covers many sports and accomplishments. Ron does not list these to have an Instagram, "hey look at me", rather, you're going to team up and partner with a winner and someone who's comited to your health and fitness journey, someone that has "walked the talk." It illustrates the commitment to a high standard and professionalism that you're going to get from training at Train With Ron.
Ron began his career in the corporate world, working for one of the nation’s largest trade show contractors. But in 2001, driven by a deep passion for fitness, athletics, and helping others reach their full potential, he made a bold shift. He left a successful business path to launch Train With Ron, turning his lifelong commitment to health and performance into a purpose‑driven career in personal training.
A graduate of Valparaiso University and a starting wide receiver for the VU football team, Ron continued competing athletically after college. He trained professionally with the Goldwin Track Club in Boulder, Colorado, working alongside Olympic‑level athletes and coaches. During this time, he posted standout marks including a 46.0 in the 400m and 10.5 in the 100m, narrowly missing an Olympic qualifying time by just 1/2 second in the 400m.
Ron’s competitive drive and innovative mindset have made him a leader in the personal training industry. He has created and trademarked multiple training methodologies—including 30 On 30 Off®, Fast‑Paced Lifting, Cardio With a Purpose, Rank Your Workout, and Unlimited Personal Training, the first “all‑you‑can‑train” model of its kind in the country.
Ron follows the philosophy that he will never ask a client to do something he hasn’t done himself.
Ron's recent passion has been competitive amateur golf. Ron began playing golf and competing just over 10 years ago with a handicap of 15. Like Ron's competitive business and athletic mindset, he dropped his golf handicap to a 1. Highlights include:
